Woman in Yoga - Discovering Hidden Stories
After 70 years of yoga being predominately taught, spread and practiced by woman worldwide, why are we stymied when asked to teach the module, “Yoga for Woman”? So much so, that Anusara had to make that module optional? This workshop will dive into the, “waters we swim in” uncovering the fascinating stories that lie hidden in those depths. We will touch on the influence of patriarchy as it grew in key Afro-Asiatic and Indo-European language cultures, explore propensities, rhythms and capacities unique to woman, learn to thrive through balancing our hormones, then top it off by celebrating the radical spirituality that affirms our feminine as we make the paradigm shift into ecstatic Tantric Goddess traditions. Anusara is uniquely configured to evolve this conversation, to divulge the woman stories, to reveal their boundless gifts. Regardless of our gender, it’s a treasure to explore the feminine. All parts connected: strengthening the heart as our guide into unity and freedom
This asana class will focus on moving the students into a deep connection to their heart as a way of merging with the bigger Heart of the Divine. It will take the students on a journey of experiencing the unchanging nature of ultimate reality of love expressed in our poses, and life in general. It will move from a grounding meditation through warm-up poses into expressions of the heart through strength and flexibility. Asana will focus on opening the upper body for backbends while not compromising steadiness and ease. We will explore how we are multi-facetted beings with vulnerabilities and limitations, and yet, with awareness, we can use alignment to move beyond them to deepen our connection to the experience of unconditional freedom (Svatantrya).

How do we move into a home practice? Often there are distractions, and we might be focusing on alignment principles while keeping an eye on the kids, or figuring our something from the day. As Anusara Yoga students and teachers, we all know that the renewal of the heart can only come from the heart, that we need to go to the heart to find strength, vigor, courage, and joy, in order to become a cascade of light for us and for others. But, as we are surrounded by strong, intrusive, and maybe direspectul sounds – amplified by the consequences of the pandemic -, it can happen sometimes that we forget how and where we can take refuge to renew ourselves. Through the Anusara practice, by applying its Universal Principles of Alignment and its philosophical vision, we learn to listen to the openings in our bodies and to expand our awareness beyond the sounds, so that we can catch the perfect full silence always present in our hearts and become flooded by light. And then, we are ready and strong enough to pour light over the world around us. Be ready to simple and traditional postures, but with longer timings and deep alignment refinements to get in tune with the silence of your heart!

Natural Joy
In this class we will embody two complementary qualities: CONNECTING TO OUR PASSION for the natural result of EXPANSIVE JOY.  
We will apply tools of alignment to weave these qualities into the body and experience that our Natural Joy (Ananda) lies within. The focus will be on Kidney and Shoulder Loop. These two Loops are friendly antagonists for fine-tuning the relationship of the abdomen/mid torso and the shoulders/upper torso so that our practice becomes therapeutically beneficial. Kidney Loop stabilises the core, balances hyper-mobility and any tendency to collapse into the mid and lower back while Shoulder Loop gives us access to more mobility in the upper back and creates space for the heart and lungs.  from one pose to the next.

By applying these observational techniques to their students, participants will be able to identify relative imbalances within the Principles which will then help determine the most useful and applicable sequence of asana for a particular session. While this is intended for those who work in small groups or one-on-one in a therapeutic context, these assessment techniques can carry over into a larger group context. Please note that this is a lecture type class and will not involve a full asana practice.

Starting over: Celebrating from the origin... - Class in Spanish
An open exploration through different basic yoga poses about how to unlock the joints as the proper engagement of the muscles from their origin is happening having a communication with the foundation all the time. The fun part comes when in an isometrical way we play with the foundation alternating its movement back and forward from one side to the other of the body. Let's say that in "warrior one" we hold this actions for some rounds of breathing moving the foundation back and forward isometrically with the joints unlocked and the reslut is the engagement of the muscles since their origin besides the benefits of shaking the body as it's sustained properly. Transcend Trauma through Asana & Ayurveda
By sharing some basic principles of  the Ayurveda  lifestyle woven through a therapeutic asana practice students will discover a deep place of  relaxation and well being necessary for the recovery process. They will be moved into the deep liminal space through Bija mantras, restorative yoga and myofacial release techniques and a guided  visualization and relaxation. I will be sharing my own healing journey from  a bike accident 5 years ago
Having survived several life-changing traumas, I will share my practices of Anusara yoga and Ayurveda that have supported me through loss of close friends and family, floods and renovations, and the recovery from 4 surgeries after a serious bike accident.

In this workshop we will incorporate the yogic teachings of Abyasa( steadiness of practice), Vairagya( non attachmen)  and Viveka
(discrimination)  to learn tools to heal and recover. As a Certified Ansuara Instructor, ECAT, and Health coach, I have discovered  and incorporated several tools to healing from traumatic injuries and loss.

Come to this workshop to learn practices that will  support you through your own  traumas and challenges.  I will share teachings of Ayurvedic health habits that ground you as well as asana sequences and pranayama practices that soothe and heal your nervous system.
